To anyone who popped down Thurs, Fri or today, HUGE apologies for not being open.....

My lovely seven year old nephew, who is now well and happy if not a little bit sore, was hit by a car on Thursday, so we have been up at the hospital keeping him company. Happy to say he was able to go home today.

If anyone needs anything or would like to pick up anything that they have ordered in, feel free to call me 0420971866 and I can open up for you.

Cards and Stationery

gorgeous journals from Isis and some hideyo flowers

My eldest daughter Amy and I were having a bit of a leisurely wander through town the other day and we had just picked up some paper bags for the shop and she was telling me how many things she wanted from the office supplies store and I decided that she was old enough for the 'talk' :)
The chat went as follows.... ' you know baby girl, that we are a rare breed. Not everyone loves stationery, some people like it and others think its ok, some aren't even aware of it's power but for a few of us it is simply intoxicating and when you find someone else that loves it as much as you do, keep them close they will be a friend forever:)' I have always been in love with paper and stickers and envelopes and smelly diaries, good smelly, (actually even not so good smelly is ok but that is for old books that you find in second hand shops) erasers and when i was little we used to get fabulous scratch and sniff stickers for doing great work in class, I could go on......

So this week all the way from San Francisco are the beautiful letter press cards and notepads from small square design...
And from Aussie locals, Able and Game, these guys are hilarious and I am super proud to have them in store, I am always a bit partial to a witty card.....

if i was a zombie in a George Romero film I would totally eat your brain first, is a favourite :)

Apology

I would like to offer my sincere apologies to everyone who has visited the store over the last week during normal opening hours and found a closed door. I have an extended family member that is very sick in hospital and at the moment Jeremy and I are needing to stay with her around the clock until the situation is under control. Since we also have children this has become quite a juggling act so this is why the shop has been closed. At this point I will be trying to be open Thurs, Friday, Saturday 10-5, this will continue indefinately.

I thank you in advance for your understanding,
Rachael xox

Cherry Stew

Wow, today I had the stunning Madeleine Somers and her daughter Tilly pop into the shop with some of the most stunning girls skirts, dresses and velvet capes.  She has left me with some of her summer stock that is perfectly fine for winter when teamed with tights and skivvies and the order will be made very soon for the drool worthy winter stock.  Ruby red soft cord swing dresses, deep purple too and if I'm quick enough there may be some teal blue left also.  Cherry Stew hasn't been stocked in Tasmania before  so I am very proud to have the label as part of The Ruby Pear.  Currently sizes range from 1-6 but hopefully we can get something for the 8-12 age group soon and fingers crossed the womens range isn't far behind.  They are made to last and each garment is designed to be hard to grow out of, they are on the higher end of the price scale but well worth it, I personally think that for the time they will last they are essentially a bargain!!!  The quality of these garments is super impressive, the materials are beautiful and they are fully lined, these are the  clothes that your daughters  will give their daughters in 20 or 3o years, they are made to stand the test of time,  Just beautiful.

you can see some pictures here http://mypoppet.blogspot.com/2008/05/introducing-cherry-stew.html

more new opening hours

Well, I feel ok about doing this as The Ruby Pear is still only a baby...

NEW OPENING HOURS

MONDAY 10-2
TUESDAY 10-2
WEDNESDAY 10-2
THURSDAY 10-2
FRIDAY 10-8
SATURDAY 10-2

The hours between 10 and 2 are my busiest hours and with the late night shopping Friday nights and the four hours on the Saturday I think that it is still plenty of time for people to come shopping.  I am of course always happy to cater for retail emergency's out of opening hours and by appointment is always ok.  This way I still have plenty of time to make and hang out with my family and do the important things like homework, washing, eating, snuggling on the couch and playing cards!!!

The shop is looking very bare at the moment, everything is selling out!!!  So if you pop in, please understand that orders have been made, waiting for them to arrive:)

So new opening hours start today, see you there between 10 & 2, please let your friends know.

Love Rach xxx

The Ruby Pear is born.

Lucky for me I get to toddle off to work soon to my beautiful little store called......The Ruby Pear.
Located at 102 Wellington Street Launceston,  right next door to Blockbuster and Davies Grand Central, so next time your dropping off a movie or grabbing some fuel, take an extra 10 minutes and pop in for a look.
I am open 10 til 6ish wednesday to sunday and any other time by appointment.

Well we just had the mother of all storms here today and I honestly didn't know if I would be able to make it to work in one piece!!  But it is over now so my eldest daughter Amy and I are off to work in a minute as I am now officially late!  (i was opening at 11 but decided all of 4 seconds ago that maybe 10 was a better time to open, cheeky;)

So I look forward to seeing you there

Wishing you all beautiful days,
Rachael xxx
